Linking businesses and educators across Montana to equip students with life skills and a vision for their future.
One Montana develops entrepreneurship programs for youth and educators by activating a network of professional expertise towards Montana's public education system. Early on, we learned that Montana's education sector was becoming increasingly eager to integrate design innovation and entrepreneurship instruction into its curricula, but did not have the capacity to develop programming. At the same time, Montana's business leaders recognized they had the ability, but lacked an approach to link to the education sector. Recognizing these mutual interests, we began to build programmatic bridges between Montana's business, university, government, and education sectors.
In 2018, One Montana helped to bring the nationally recognized Youth Entrepreneurs curriculum to MT and manage the dissemination strategy. Youth Entrepreneurs (YE) is a national program developed to equip young people with the skills and vision to pursue their dreams. YE provides educators across the country with hands-on training, curriculum and staff support to help empower their students and place them on a path for success. YE has partnered with One Montana to establish Youth Entrepreneurs MT (YE-Montana).
YE-Montana brings an evidence-based entrepreneurship instruction to Montana's educators, making Montanan the 18th state to deploy YE's program. Educator resources include an online project-based curriculum, training, on-demand support, and classroom funds designed to immerse students in values-based business, economics, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. YE can be applied across many educational disciplines and settings, and One Montana serves as YE-Montana's Educator and Schools Liaison.
One Montana serves as YE-Montana's Educator and Schools Liaison. We are working closely with Montana's Office of Public Instruction (OPI) and Jobs for Montana's Graduates (JMG) in the Department of Labor to inform educators about the availability of YE-Montana and to help us locate and select innovative teachers for each year's cohort.
